Vance Simonds and Ken Kasdan have practiced together since 1979. They launched the Kasdan Simonds firm, with its emphasis on construction defect litigation, in 1993. Vance served as Managing Partner from 2003-2007. Having litigated for over 30 years, he has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer in 2011 and 2012, and was awarded the "AV Preeminent" rating by his peers in 2011 for both legal ability and ethical standards. Vance has also served as President of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce.
Vance earned his law degree at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, and his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University. Prior to practicing law, he was a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy, and served in federal and municipal government positions in urban renewal, affordable housing, education, desegregation and law enforcement.
Asked for a phrase that sums up his professional philosophy, he says, "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right".
